So, what exactly is achievement motivation, and why is it important to you?...

The answer is simple...

You see, we only become motivated towards achieving things that we want to achieve.

Most people don't realise this.

Ultimately, we ALL want, or even need, to achieve the same thing. So, what is that 'thing'...

Drum roll please...

I'll tell you later on, in this article... ;-)

What is it?

So what is achievement motivation?...

Psychologists have recognized that people have varying levels of desire towards achievements. To some, achievements are vitally important, whilst to others, it's not so important.

Generally speaking, individuals with a strong desire for achievements will, naturally, be more driven than others who have a weak, or non existent, desire for achievements...

Basically, it goes without saying that if you are, at all, interested in constructing and living your DREAM Life, you must have a strong desire for achievements in your life.

There are many courses and programs developed to teach what is known as the seven "training inputs". The steps are as follows...

  1. The achievement motivation mentality is taught.
  2. Participants are taught about recognizing and understanding their goals.
  3. Participants are instructed to practice the required actions for attaining the achievement(s) relating to their personal life.
  4. Participants are instructed to practice the required actions for attaining the achievement(s) relating to their career/business endeavors life.
  5. Participants are instructed to relate the achievement behavior model to their own behavior, self-image, and goals.
  6. Participants are taught the importance of, and how to, develop a personal plan of action.
  7. Participants are given feedback on their performance of achieving their targets and objections..
OK, so that's achievement motivation in a nutshell. Now, allow me to give you my own spin on it...

Achievements, Motivate!

Ironically, one of the many different motivation techniques that motivates people, is achievement motivation, or in other words, the motivation you get from actually achieving something that you wanted to achieve, in the past...

This motivates you because it clearly illustrates to you that you are capable of achieving things that you set out to achieve. You'll also feel motivated towards achieving things, in the future, in the same way you did in the past, e.g. by setting goals, etc...

That's why it's important to have a proper way of attaining achievements, for example, goal setting. When you set goals, and follow and achieve them, you're much more likely to repeat that again, in the future.

Naturally, to benefit fully from the type achievement motivation I'm referring to, you need to have attained achievements in the first place, before you can utilise it effectively, in the future. So, you need to achieve first, to use achievement motivation as a motivation technique.

That leads me nicely onto explaining the one thing that we all want to achieve...

The ONE Motivational 'Thing' we ALL Crave

If you've read my article on the meaning of life, you'll know that emotions are a major part of life, in fact, without feeling emotions, you are as good as dead...

So, how does this relate to achievement motivation?...

The one thing we ALL crave, is to feel good, pleasurable EMOTIONS. Achievement motivation, really should be looked upon as emotional achievement, instead. You see, every achievement you want to attain in life, you either consciously or unconsciously, perceive that it will enable to feel pleasurable emotions...

The bottom line is...

We are ALL motivated by our emotions, and we ALL want to achieve things that make us feel the desired pleasurable emotions...

An example...

Suppose you want to get into shape. Ultimately, getting into shape is the byproduct to feeling a desired pleasurable emotion.
